Because freedom of expression as we know it is a recent thing and protecting it was never the objective. We got carried away. We made freedom an inalienable right the state apparatus we feel at liberty to attack all the time would forever protect. I'm sorry but this was always going to happen even if we couldn't predict the form it would take. Not even members of Congress are safe. Assaulted by paramilitaries in their own homes many are discovering for themselves how state regards 'dissidence', and so with SWAT teams fanning out across our European and American homelands on the hunt for thought criminals allow me to wish us all good luck as we learn to speak softly and wait for better times, because this is just the start.
